5S Workplace Organisation
This is a tool that can be used as a starting block into implementation of Lean principles. It is a great tool to use to improve productivity even if Lean is not your strategy path.
It is often seen as housekeeping but if done properly it impacts on maintenance, staff morale, space utilisation, production lead time reduction, operating costs reduction, scrap and quality. It can make other issues much more visible and easier to address, and provides an opportunity for real team working, management involvement and communication in its more basic and functional form.

If you don’t know what to do to improve or how to do it, this is your answer. Just try it in one area and see the benefits it can bring to your whole organisation. You’ll want to roll it out to every inch of your organisation before long.
